Mr Kazushige Tanaka was appointed in June 2016 as the Director of the International Affairs Division, and currently serves as Japan’s Governing Board Representative for the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Mr. Tanaka’s energy policy experiences including IEA connection span many years. He has been involved in energy related work since 1994. He served as the Director of Energy Demand and Supply Division between 2011 and 2013, and as an Energy Advisor of Permanent Delegation of Japan to the OECD/IEA in Paris from 2013 to 2016.
He also has diverse experiences serving in other offices in METI in areas including trade policy, regional economy policy and other issues.
Mr. Tanaka earned a Bachelor of Law from University of Tokyo in 1994 and an MPhil in Development Studies in 2000 from University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
