Mr. Nohata has been working for Tokyo Gas for more than 30 years since joining in 1984. Through his career with the company, he has engaged in various fields such as overseas business development, infrastructure development, energy sales & service planning, energy solution business, LNG procurement and power business, as well as experiencing as President & CEO of Tokyo Gas Engineering Solution, subsidiary of Tokyo Gas Co.Ltd., specializing in engineering business.
He holds a Bachelor and Master of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Laurent Vivier is President for the Gas division of Total, currently located in Paris. He started his career within this company in 1996, holding successive positions in Total’s trading offices in Paris, Geneva, London and Houston. He was responsible for the trading activities in LPG and then in natural gas for the European Continent and North America. He then moved to his current position in 2011, originally combining the Group activities in New Energies. He graduated in France at the EDHEC School of Business, and then obtained an MSc of International Relations at the London School of Economics.
Jonty joined BP Oil in 1992, where he performed several roles in operations, trading and refining. In 1998 he took over the business development team looking after the Former Soviet Union, Mediterranean and Africa. During this period, he took on the role of BP nominated director in the setup of a new internet company the Intercontinental Exchange, which is now the world’s third largest exchange.
In 2001 Jonty moved to Vietnam to be the marketing manager for upstream. In this role, he was responsible for negotiating gas sales agreements with the State Oil and Power companies and working with the World Bank to finance new Power stations. Following this, he moved to Angola where he was the commercial manager for BP’s first deep water oil development. Prior to his current role, Jonty was the executive assistant for the head of Integrated Supply & Trading, then Group Strategy, in the corporate centre.
Jonty is currently global head of LNG for BP with a responsibility for the management of upstream contracts in Trinidad, Egypt and North West Shelf, merchant supply from Freeport in the USA and future projects in Coral LNG in Mozambique, Tortue in Mauretania and Senegal and Calcassieu Pass in the USA. The portfolio includes a fleet of ~20 LNG carriers, regas facilities in the USA, UK, Spain and Italy, as well as long term customer contracts globally.
Patrick Janssens is currently serving as ABS Vice President LNG, Corporate Global Gas Solutions and is responsible for coordinating LNG-related activities within ABS on a corporate level.
Prior to joining ABS, Janssens served as Senior Vice President of Technology at Flex LNG where he focused on conceptual development and FEED of a generic floating LNG liquefaction project. He also served as Chief Technical Officer of Exmar Marine NV where he was in charge of the development of the first LNG regasification vessels from conceptual design to the development of all operational procedures and the development of the first commercially used ship to ship LNG transfer system. He managed newbuildings projects for several LNG carriers, LPG/NH3 carriers, oil tankers, bulk carriers and container ships.
Janssens holds a Master’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Ghent in Belgium.
Graham Hartnell leads LNG & gas consulting activities for Poten & Partners in London. He has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industries. He began his career in the oil and gas exploration sector and has subsequently worked in a variety of upstream and downstream roles in a wide range of countries across the globe. Previously he was Vice President with Nexant, following spells with Bechtel, Halliburton and Enterprise Oil. He has wide experience in developing corporate and sector strategy and providing commercial and technical support to oil and gas companies, governments, regulators and financial institutions on technical, economic commercial and financial issues related to oil and gas developments and markets. He has been active in the LNG industry for over 15 years advising buyers, sellers, project developers and governments around the world. He is an active member of a number of industry societies. He holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc degree in Geophysics and an MBA degree, specialising in Finance.
Khalid Sultan R. Al Kuwari leads the Marketing & Shipping Group, and is responsible for RasGas’ global LNG commercial and marketing activities, economic and market analysis, production planning, and shipping operational and scheduling activities.
Al Kuwari joined RasGas in 1997 as a Petroleum Engineer and has held leading positions in the company’s Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Operations and Technical Planning departments.
In 2003, he was assigned to LNG Marketing as Marketing Manager and as a member of the RasGas Marketing Committee. In 2007, Al Kuwari was appointed Marketing Executive, and his scope of responsibilities further expanded in 2011 to include Production Planning and Allocation, Sales Contract and the management of the RasGas shipping activities with a fleet of 27 LNG carriers.
Al Kuwari has held board representative positions for the South Hook Gas (UK) and Adriatic LNG (Italy) companies. He has a B.Sc. in Natural Gas Engineering from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and an EMBA from HEC-Paris.
Philip Olivier holds Electromechanical and Nuclear Engineering Degrees as well as Management Degrees from Gent and Fontainebleau. He has over 25 years of experience in the electricity and gas industry.
The first twelve years of his career he spent working for Electrabel holding various positions in electricity and gas distribution operations. Since 1995 he has worked for SUEZ Energy International, contributing to its expansion worldwide, predominantly in electricity and gas distribution and transportation. From 2002 to 2007, he held the position of Chief Business Developer at Suez Global LNG Ltd. In 2007, he was appointed to the position of President & CEO of Suez Global LNG.
After the merger with Gaz de France, he became President of GDF SUEZ LNG, the business unit responsible for the management of all Group’s LNG supply and vessel chartering contracts, for optimization of the Group’s LNG portfolio, and for LNG business development including new markets, new supplies and investments in liquefaction plants.
Dr. James Henderson has been working in the oil and gas industry for the past 25 years as a commercial manager, a consultant, an investment banker and now an academic. He worked at US oil company Amerada Hess in the 1990s before joining Wood Mackenzie Consultants, where he became Head of Energy. His interest in Russia and the CIS began when he joined Renaissance Capital in 1997 as Head of Research and oil and gas analyst, and having become a partner he left in 2002 to begin a PhD at London University on “Partnership in the Russian Oil and Gas Industry”. He worked at Lambert Energy Advisory as Head of Russia and CIS from 2006-2013, finishing his doctorate in 2010 and becoming involved with the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) at the same time. He is now a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute, working for the Gas and Oil Programmes covering Russia and CIS issues as well as writing on global energy matters that affect the region. He has published numerous working papers for OIES and in 2010 published a book entitled “Non-Gazprom Gas Producers in Russia”. He is currently co-editing and writing a new book for OIES entitled “The Russian Gas Matrix”, to be published in 2014.
