Iqbal Z. Ahmed is a leader in Pakistan's Liquefied Petroleum Gas sector. His sponsorship of Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL), a LPG Extraction Facility in Pakistan's Sind province, brought an investment of US $100 million in Pakistan's LPG industry, which created thousands of new jobs and meets the energy needs of over 100,000 homes across Pakistan. Mr Ahmed's Associated Group is the sponsor of Pakistan GasPort Limited, a LNG import terminal, to be set up at Port Qasim, Karachi. GasPort will import up to 3.5 mmscfd of LNG to cater to the vast demand in the power sector, which is presently running on expensive and dirty furnace oil. Fuel switchover benefits to the power sector, enduser and the Government of Pakistan will result in mitigating the current circular debt in the energy sector. GasPort has the first mover's advantage to bring the first LNG supplies to Pakistan by Q1, 2014.
